About the Artist

My work is very often inspired by the beautiful Berkshire hills where I have lived for 30 years. I started quilting 28 years ago when the arts council in my town sponsored a class for beginners. Back then, all my work was traditional and completely done by hand. After several years, I realized that if I was going to get all the ideas that were buzzing around in my head created with fabric, I would have to embrace the sewing machine. To make a long story short, my machine is now one of my best friends and my quilts are far from traditional. I tried many different methods of quiltmaking throughout the years, but about 6 years ago, I fell in love with the completely pieced art quilt. I work from my own photographs and drawings. The sky is the limit! If I can imagine it, I can create it.

I have been a horse trainer for the better part of my life. Capturing the spirit of these magnificent animals with needle and thread is almost as exciting for me, as riding a young horse for the first time! One of my favorite pastimes is riding out into the woods on my Morgan horse, "Happy", with my drawing materials and camera in a backpack,  searching for my next quilt idea. Happy loves these excursions, because he generally stands around munching on beech leaves while I sit on a log and sketch. Life is good!

I hope that you enjoy my art quilts My creations are a true labor of love and an expression of the inner peace that I experience whenever I go into my studio to sew. Thank you for taking the time to browse through my gallery! Teresa
